In light of the COVID-19 outbreak, FGIA staff has developed guidelines for a new virtual training program that will allow instructors to hold installer training classes remotely. This interim virtual class training option is being extended to qualified, currently accredited InstallationMasters instructors. This training option is only available for a limited time and the expiration for virtual classes will be communicated as the national situation with COVID-19 continues to develop.
InstallationMasters®, prompted by the Building Environment and Thermal Envelope Council (BETEC) through the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is an FGIA Program, developed and administered by the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA). This is a nationwide training and certification program for new construction and replacement installers of windows and exterior glass doors in residential and light commercial markets.
Completion of the installer training program and successful passing of the exam allows participants to earn the InstallationMasters Identification Card, which shows they are officially certified through the InstallationMasters Program.
Learn more about this program on the About InstallationMasters page.
Note: A commercial training program is not currently available. Staff is currently working on reviewing the IPCB-08 document, Installation of Windows and Doors in Commercial Buildings, to identify any updates that may be needed. Staff will reassess installation training opportunities for commercial buildings once the updated standard is available.
